I can’t wait to see you smile at the sun,
twist and turn to the light.

Connect me to the past,
ground me in the present,
I never tire of you.

I lose time studying you.
You still surprise me.
I draw a quick breath
with the new discovery.

I need to feel and sense
you, I try to leave you
as you are.
But there are times
I succumb
to the urge
to possess and tame you,
loosen the tangles,
if even for a short while.

You are marvel and muse
and yet
I’m comforted with the parts I know,
and crave your presence
in quiet still moments
that aren’t the same without you.
